Ingredients
½cupbuttermelted
1/4cupdark brown sugar
2eggs
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1 1/2cupsunsweetened apple sauce
4tablespoons1% milk
¼cupsour cream
1¾cupswhole wheat flour
1teaspoonbaking powder
1teaspoonbaking soda
2teaspoonsground cinnamon
1teaspoonground ginger
1/4teaspoonground nutmeg
1apple,peeled and chopped into small pieces
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a loaf pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together the butter and sugar together. Add in the eggs and whisk until combined. Stir in vanilla, apple sauce, milk, and sour cream.
In a separate bowl, sift together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and spices. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and stir until just combined. Gently fold in half the chopped apples.
Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and sprinkle the remaining chopped apples on top. Gently press apples into the batter.
Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes at 350 degrees until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let bread cool in the pan for approx 10 minutes, then turn out onto a rack and cool completely.
